Import & export of civilian arms, parts and ammunition

We specialize in organising the import and export of firearms, parts and ammunition and work together with internationally recognized logistics partners. We strictly adhere to all Austrian regulations, laws, export regulations, embargos and other requirements of the state. Due to these measures we cannot guarantee that we are able to export to all countries, and we are obliged to follow the transport stipulations of the respective airline or carrier. Please enquire with us whether we can arrange shipping to your country.

Our services include the application for an import or export permit and the communication with the forwarding agent. The dispatch of weapons by air freight is preferred, but we also gladly arrange such as ground or sea transport. For certain destinations it is possible to ship ammunition in small quantities (1-2 packages) by air freight.

Exports & Imports
within the EU

Exports/Imports:
For an import/export (transfer) within the European Union, we must apply for an “EU Firearms or Ammunition Transfer Document” according to Austrian law. Duration: approx. one week.

Please note that the following documents must be made available by you before we are able to submit an application:

Private:

A copy of your import allowance issued by the police or local authorities.
Copy of your passport (date and place of birth must be recognizable!)

Arms dealer:

Copy of your company import allowance or EU transfer document issued by the police or local authorities.
A copy of license or registration as an authorized gun dealer in your country.

Exports & Imports
to a third-country (non-EU)

Exports:
For export to a non-EU destination we are required to apply for an export with the Austrian foreign ministry. The duration of this is approximately four to six weeks.

Imports:
When selling through us or submitting your guns for repair originating from a non-EU country will gladly apply for an import licence from the relevant ministry. This will generally take up to two weeks to obtain.

Private:

A copy of your national import permit
Copy of your passport (date and place of birth must be recognizable!)

Arms dealer:

A copy of your national import permit
Copy of the end-user certificate (“End-User Certificate”)

PLEASE NOTE

We cannot apply for licenses on the basis of missing or illegible documents. Legible scans or copies (in PDF or JPEG) are generally sufficient.

EU issued documents for shipment can be in the national language, all other documents must be in German or English. If this is not possible, please enclose a certified translation (German or English) with the copy of the original document.

In all cases we also need the complete data (name, delivery address, telephone number, e-mail address) for the recipient.

Import of dangerous goods
In special cases we can also organise the import of class 1.4G/S ammunition to Austria with our logistics partners within Europe. For safety and security reasons, this is only done by road-transport. We also offer this service for non-civilian ammunition provided the appropriate permits and end user certificates are in place. An import application typically takes two weeks.

Since such imports are subject to particularly strict conditions, we decide on an individual basis whether we are able to carry out the order.

Purchasing weapons via the Internet and shipping weapons for Austria
The purchase of weapons via the Internet is generally not possible – The Internet is used by the company Joh. Springer’s Erben merely as an advertising medium and only addresses people who are licensed and authorized to purchase weapons in Austria or in their own respective countries.

The processing of the purchase takes place exclusively in one of our shops and all necessary documents (weapon possession card/weapon passport/hunting card when Austrian) must be available in the original. Registering a weapon in the Austrian Governmental Weapons register are carried out by us for a fee of EUR 15.

Within Austria shipping weapons and ammunition to private customers by mail is prohibited. However, we are able to send a gun to a gunsmith or licensed gun dealer of your choice. This is only by prior agreement with ourselves and the dealer and please contacts us beforehand. We will require the contact details and a copy of the license of the dealer.
